For months now I have been taking mental notes on exciting movies, TV shows and books to come, so why not make a blog post about them, right?

As many of you probably know, Will is a british Youtuber whose videos are both emotional and beautiful. Although Youtuber books are something of a pet peeve at this point, Will had a brilliant and touching idea for his. Wanting to make a book about love, he decided to request letters from his followers about love, old love, new love, lost of love, all types of love experiences. With these letters in hand, Will made a selection of his favorites and thus This Modern Love was born. Brilliant, beautiful and touching. I cannot wait to get my hands on a copy.

The book has been out since last month and you can order yourself one here.

Now to this news my teenage self died. The Lemony Snicket book series was, probably, my favorite tied with Harry Potter. I loved the rhythm of the books, the writing style, the language, the tone, everything was incredibly gripping and exciting in this fictional world. So when the Jim Carrey movie came out, I was highly disappointed. Yeah, it's an okay movie, but with the cast they had (I mean, Jim Carrey, Meryl Streep and the kids perfect casting) combined with the story, my expectations were much higher than an "okay movie". So much of the books was lost in translation and the rearranging of the events felt completely wrong.

This time, however, considering we will have an entire Netflix show to deal with the huge 13 + extra books story, I have a better feeling about it. Not only because there will be more time to explore nuances, but also since Netflix has been regularly making some of the best shows on air lately. Add to that the fact that Neil Patrick Harris is looking pretty perfect as evil/creepy/crazy Count Olaf. Filming has already begun, but no release date has been given by Netflix as of yet.

To be truly honest, for a hardcore Harry Potter nerd, I was really not that excited about all the new stories coming out. It felt to me like too much was being added while the story had already had a pretty well rounded ending. So when The Cursed Child became a  play, which wasn't even written by Rowling, part of me felt like it was wrong. Don't be mistaken, I am still very much in love with Harry Potter. Last time we went to Universal Studios, I was ecstatic and basically wanted to live in the Harry Potter Universe. But the additions to the story kept feeling misplaced.

However, all my feelings changed when I watched the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them movie trailer. It was light but exciting, much like the first few Harry Potter movies. The characters and scenarios were completely new. But the magic was the same. And it all felt very much right.

As if that wasn't enough for my Harry Potter loving heart, J.K. Rowling will release three new titles on Hogwarts and some of its stories and anecdotes, which completely fills my nerdy needs with joy.

As if all my childhood favorites coming back wasn't enough, Disney decided to make a live action version of one of the best Disney Princess movies of all time. With Emma Watson as the Beauty and Dan Stevens as Beast, the teaser promises a very faithful reproduction of the animated version. And if any of the musical numbers are as good as the originals, there is no reason to not be excited about this one.

Last year I made a book review post on 13 Reasons Why by Jay Asher, which if you haven't already you can read here. Back then I had already mentioned Selena Gomez's production company had bought the rights to produce a movie version of the book years ago and yet nothing had evolved since. At the end of last year, however, Selena finally broke the amazing news that 13 Reasons Why had been sold as a new series for Netflix, which I could not be more excited about. Not only am I grateful because Netflix has proven itself capable of dealing with intense and difficult issues with conscience, truthfulness and care (see OITNB and Jessica Jones, for example) but also because a serialized version of this story really does seem the best way to explore it. Perfect business move, Selena.

I only wish it would come out this month, as September is National Suicide Prevention Month in the US.

After the excitement of the Olympics and watching everyone be so involved and happy around Rio during the three week event, I can only hope the same excitement is around for the Paralympic athletes and stars. The Paralympics will start September 7th, 2016. Every game and competition is a little bit different from what goes on the Olympics, as they have to be adapted to the paralympic athletes, which only makes it more of an interesting watch. These real life superheros definitely deserve recognition, cheerfulness and love from the audience and this town. Look out for the channels that will be showing the competitions starting this week! If you are a fellow Brazilian you may catch them on TV Brasil or SporTV.

No, I am not talking about the perfect debut single from Demi Lovato's first album. La La Land is the musical romantic dramedy starring Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone (yes, again) coming out very very soon. I fell completely head over heals with this movie by just watching the teaser trailer and knowing that it involved Ryan and Emma. When I read the story was about an actress and a jazz pianist falling in love, it was enough.

Having already been shown in Film Festivals, the movie has been getting amazing receptions, with high note reviews in almost every department, convincing me that the feeling the trailer had given me initially shall not let me down. I need this movie, I need it now.

Man, this list is getting me all happy and excited, and I didn't even mention everything! What movies, shows and books are you excited for?

Despite being a beauty blogger, Anna is responsible for a couple of my favorite recipe videos. One of them being this amazing cookie recipe, which I have baked twice in the span of a couple of weeks. I definitely recommend trying this one, it's a gooey on the inside, chocolate filled deliciousness.

Oh, as Anna says we can use whatever chocolate we prefer, I have been baking mine as a three chocolate cookie, mixing dark chocolate, milk chocolate and white chocolate, making it extra delicious and perfect for all tastes.

Although Gilmore Girls came to Netflix in other countries quite a while ago, only in July was it made available in Brazilian Netflix. And as soon as it did, I was all over it.

Gilmore Girls has always been on my list of favorite TV shows, but even so, I had completely forgotten just how good it really was. There is not one episode I rewatch and don't completely fall in love with again. And it's just so much fun to see how many of the pop references I actually understand now that I didn't when I was little.

As you may know, I'm from Rio. Not only am I from Rio, but I have been, since I can recall, always incredibly drawn to watching every single sport possible of every single Olympics. This means the past couple of weeks has been intense.

Despite my disagreance with the Olympics happening in Rio (an argument for some other time), watching so many incredible athletes coming together, doing the impossible, overcoming their own difficulties and struggles, is incomparable. Watching it happen right here in this city, was even better.

Now, to the Paralympics!

I'm certain by now you have definitely heard the Netflix 80's nostalgia series that is dominating the world, right? Everyone and their mothers have watched it. And there is good reason for it. It took me only two nights to watch from start to finish, completely immersed and addicted to the show.

The storyline goes into horror and suspense territory, with little Will's disappearance after a game of Dungeons and Dragons with his three best friends. But it also ventures into a story about love, friendship and family.

The main characters, played by the four most adorable children on earth, are endearing and funny. Winona Ryder as Will's mother is incredible. The soundtrack, as an 80's soundtrack would be, on point.

Even the fact that it is such a short series, with only 8 episodes in the first season, makes the show perfect, giving the story perfect pace to explore the characters, the mysteries, the horror and still leave us hanging and dying for the next season.

Rio de Janeiro is full of beautiful spots I have never explored, despite being from here. So on my last birthday, way back in March, I decided to do some exploring and go have breakfast with my family at Fort Copacabana, located at the very end of Copacabana beach, with high expectations of beautiful sights and delicious food. I was not disappointed.

Although the day was quite cloudy, it was still a lovely day. The plan was to have breakfast at Confeitaria Colombo, an extremely traditional must-visit coffee house in Rio de Janeiro. The original location of Confeitaria Colombo is actually located in Rio's city center and is absolutely stunning and full of the most delicious pastries, so I figured such a place with an added view of Copacabana could not go wrong.

Unfortunately, though, once we got to the Fort, the waiting line for Confeitaria Colombo was already huge, with about 20 people listed. Main tourist tip of the post: get there early and not too desperate for food. Even on a cloudy day, it was full, I can only imagine what it's like on a sunny day. Since the Olympics officially start tomorrow, the place will certainly be packed all through August.

Considering we were starving and we became a family of hangries quickly, we decided to go for the other not-so-well-known-but-equally-adorable coffee place located there, Café 18 do Forte. There were only 3 people before us in line. Much better.

The Lost Girls was written by three friends, Jennifer Baggett, Holly Corbett and Amanda Pressner, who decided to push the pause button on their lives and travel the world for a year. The book is written by all three girls, that alternate as narrators for each chapter, and retells the story of their travels, their inner doubts and their findings, with places such as Machu Pichu, Rio de Janeiro, Bali and Sydney as destinations. It sounds like the perfect recipe for a book on friendship, growing up and wanderlust and, yet, the delivery falls incredibly short.

First off, the girls are so superficially presented or, maybe, so lacking in personality that the separate narrators actually made absolutely no difference. In fact, maybe it even harmed the storytelling, as multiple times I had to check whose chapter it was. Their narrating styles and personalities missed originality and character, which are essential for this type of narration and was surprising, considering they were all writers, previously. Instead, I finished the book without being able to remember who was who and who went through what issues. At a certain point, I even considered making a mental map of the characters, something I only really think of while watching Game of Thrones.

Secondly, although the girls planned an incredibly interesting and culturally diverse trip, much of that was left out and/or substituted by uninteresting boy, friendship and work drama. Now, don't get me wrong. It's not that I don't appreciate the fact that they tried to portray a middle class twenty-something's main concerns in life, it's more that the portrayal of these concerns felt extremely superficial. Instead of dealing with the topics in a way that was truly honest and raw, as a good memoir should be, most of the time it just felt as if they were talking about these difficulties with distant acquaintances to whom they did not want to reveal much at all. Meanwhile, the interesting parts of their trip was frequently sidelined, only being told in passing, as a small mention of the event.

Consequently, most of the time it felt as if, despite having an entire year to explore these places and cultures and peoples, the girls never really share these things with us or worse, they never actually got to truly explore these things. Once again, superficiality reigned and I constantly felt as if a FunforLouis vlog was more well rounded than this book. And that's saying something.

All in all, it's not completely horrible. The book is fairly fun and the girls do share a couple of interesting stories, especially if you know nothing about the places they've visited. I would not say I wasted my time reading it because I feel like reading is always special and beneficial, no matter what, but I also would not recommend it, as there are much more interesting and fun reads to prioritize over this one. Maybe if it's the only book you have access to and you're quite bored? Yeah, let's say that.
